For other cultures, dating is more of a social activity. It is understandable that men and women will date more than one person in their lifetime.

Now that you know the factors affecting dating, it is time to proceed to the process. Here are the stages:

Getting-to-know-you stage

This stage involves a lot of talking. There are no commitments involved. This means the person can date multiple people. As with the physical contact, it is restricted. If you are interested, you schedule more meetings to know the person well.

Monogamous dating stage

If you show interest, it means you are thinking about deepening whatever you have. This will lead to monogamous dating stage. This is when both parties decided to pursue a relationship. The foundation of the relationship will be established during this stage. Both parties will also agree to end other dating. If there is a chance, introductions to family and friends will take place.

For those who are not determined to pursue the relationship, the next stage is referred to as “friends with benefits”. This is when both parties decided to engage in physical contact but are still free to meet and date other people.

Pre-marital stage

This is when the couple will try to deepen their intimacy level. Aside from that, the couple will engage in discussion of expectations, goals, and dreams.  Basically, the couple will picture their future together. If at this phase, you are still doubtful, it is time to re-evaluate the relationship.

Marriage stage

The final stage is marriage. The roles and responsibilities of both will be discussed especially if they are thinking about having children soon. If you arrive at this stage, it means that you have strong foundations. If you are still doubtful, you really need to re-evaluate the relationship.

Dating is a process. If it is not successful, do not force it. If it is, it can lead to a loving and lasting relationship.
